Community Guidelines

Last updated: December 2025

Welcome to My HOMETURF Running! Our goal is to build a trusting, safe, and positive community where runners can discover new routes and have fun together. By joining the My HOMETURF Running Community, you agree to these guidelines and acknowledge them as a binding part of the User Agreement.

1. General Principles

These principles apply to all members of the Community.

  • Respectful Conduct: It is self-evident that we treat each other with respect here.
  • Private Nature and Liability Exclusion: A "HOMETURF" is strictly not an official event, but a purely private meeting for both the HOST and the TOURIST. The Operator is not the organizer, promoter, or liable party for the private meetings.
  • Personal Responsibility and Safety: Participation in runs is voluntary and at the participant's own risk. Every participant is personally responsible for assessing their own fitness level and health suitability for a route. During a group run, we always look out for each other.
  • Feedback: Objective and constructive feedback to the Host or the Community Manager is always welcome.

2. Specific Guidelines for "Hosts"

As a Host, you create Hometurfs and offer runs in the Community.

Creating Your Hometurf

To share your favorite running routes, you create a Hometurf via your Host Dashboard:

  • Add route details such as distance, difficulty, and terrain type
  • Determine a clear meeting point (not your private address)
  • Provide a route description and special requirements
  • Optionally link to external route maps (e.g., Strava, Komoot)

Planning Runs

Once your Hometurf is created, you can schedule regular runs:

  • Set dates, times, and participant limits
  • Communicate short-term changes immediately
  • Ensure all participants have the necessary information before the run
  • Your Role: You act as a host for a private meeting, not as an official organizer or guide. Present yourself in the best light, both in communication and during the runs themselves.
  • Rules of Thumb: Hosts decide on their own responsibility regarding the risk assessment, the realization, and the execution of a run.
  • Openness: Be open to suggestions and constructive criticism from your participants.

3. Specific Guidelines for "Tourists"

As a Tourist, you participate in a run offered by a Host.

  • Preparation: Read the Hometurf description carefully BEFORE you submit a request to join a run. Check distance, difficulty level, terrain, and meeting point details.
  • Personal Responsibility: You are solely responsible for assessing your limit and what you are capable of. Important information can be found in the Hometurf description (distance, elevation gain, pace expectations, etc.).
  • Communication: For questions about a run, please contact your HOST directly first. If the matter cannot be clarified, the Community Manager is available.

4. Unacceptable Conduct

The following conduct is not tolerated in our Community and may lead to the consequences mentioned in § 5. This applies to all public areas, personal messages, and the runs themselves:

  • Violations of applicable laws (especially copyright and data protection).
  • Posts containing insults, defamation, racism, sexism, or other forms of discrimination or glorification of violence.
  • Personal attacks, bullying, or aggressive behavior.
  • Spam, unauthorized commercial content and promotional links.
  • The publication of personal or confidential data of other persons.

5. Consequences of Violations

Violations of the Community Guidelines will be pursued in the interest of the entire Community.

  • Measures: Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences range from a written warning to a temporary or permanent exclusion from the Community. A permanent exclusion constitutes extraordinary termination of the User Agreement for good cause (pursuant to T&C § 6 Para. 4).
  • Reporting Violations: If you notice a violation, please report it to the Community Manager.
